1999 YESTERYEAR
IN OHIOPYLE

Marci Lynn McGuinness, Ohiopyle author and publisher, has just released her Yesteryear in Ohiopyle 1999 Pictorial History Keepsake Calendar. Several years ago the writer published a series of historical calendars. The 1999 issue was organized after readers repeatedly requested she do another on Ohiopyle. Back by popular demand, 13 frameable 8x11 photographs depict life in the good old days. Group photographs of Kentuck, Belle Grove, and Tinker Ridge Schools include families such as the Bryners, Hollands, Deans, Collins, Holts, McCartneys, Wables, Lambis, Smalleys, Wallaces, Wolfes, Shipleys, Jacksons, Thorpes, Pasavants, Leonards, Burnworths, Weimers, and Shawls. Other vintage photos show a mine above Cucumber Falls and workers named Taylor, Holland and Boland, an 1899 summer shot of Hollands, Bryners, Holidays, and Tresslers, men called Rush, Collins, Murphy and Hall posing in front of the Meadow Run Cabin, Collins and Potter gals fishing in Meadow Run, Corrsistans, Morrisons, Halls, Wolfes, Burnworths, and a Marietta gather in "Aunt Sadie's" yard, and more. Six pages of detailed local history take the reader from the 1700's to present time.

The calendars will also be available in Ohiopyle at Backwoods Books and Falls Market, Chalk Hill's Christmas Shop and the Klay Winery, Rx Plus in Hopwood, the Uniontown and Connellsville Public Libraries, the Cherry Tree Book Store by Wal Mart, and the Bethesda Christian Book Store.
